Our schools will remain closed until further notice. All doors and buildings are secured. We want to remind everyone that if we work together as a community, we will be okay. Please continue to be patient with one another and practice social distancing guidelines. Please ensure that you do not gather in groups larger than 10 and you only gather in groups that you are sheltered with. If you experience flu-like symptoms, loss of taste, low fever, etc.; quarantine yourself for at least one week. We will update everyone through school messenger, our district Facebook page and this page as we receive more information.

Meals

Grab & Go sack meals for children under 18 years of age will be at the following locations on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. Each sack will contain breakfast and lunch meal items and milk for two days with the exception of Friday. Please be patience as we work through figuring out the estimated number of prepared meals to provide at each location. In the event that we run out of meals we will make a second delivery. In an effort to comply with social distancing these meals must be taken home and eaten. Questions may be directed to Tammy Mapel (319) 728-2911 ext. 9092 or Tashia Wheeler (319) 728-9106.

Department of Education - Iowa School Performance Profiles

Under state and federal law, Iowa is required to publish report cards reflecting every public school’s performance on multiple measures.  These Iowa School Performance Profiles help stakeholders understand how their schools are serving students, as well as identify those schools that require support and improvements provided by the state.  Report cards and designations were recently released to the public.

This year, Columbus Community School District is proud to celebrate their performance in all three schools:

  • Roundy Elementary moved up from the Acceptable category last year to a designation of COMMENDABLE.
  • Columbus Junior High received a designation of ACCEPTABLE.
  • Columbus High School received a designation of COMMENDABLE.

No schools in the district require targeted support or improvement at the state level.  This is great news!  Congratulations to the students, staff, and community on these achievements!
